John A Baker Airport
The airport property covers 116 acres. It is located 2 miles west of Hohenwald on Highway 412 West. The runway is paved and is 4000 feet in length. The airport has a GPS instrument approach that allows aircraft to use the airport when the weather is below visual flight requirements.
Baker field has a 24/7 fuel station. It is self-served and accepts most credit cards. This allows aircraft to come in and fuel any time, night or day.
The runway has a lighting system that was installed in 2005. The runway lights are on medium intensity from dusk to dawn and can be increased to high intensity by using a code on the local Unicom frequency.
The county has one 80’ x 100’ hangar. There is a lounge and kitchen area for pilots and visitors to use while at the airport. High speed internet is provided to allow pilots to check weather information.
There are 3 private hangars that have been built. These hangars house private aircraft located on the field.
There are 4 tie down spots that are provided for aircraft that cannot be housed in one of the hangars.
On average, there are 20+ aircraft based on Baker Field. There are some part time aircraft that are flown in by property owners that live elsewhere.
